needles 4mm Harmony. (Using interchangables means you can just add the end caps rather than putting 100+ stitches onto a holder/piece of wool)
Yarn Silkroad DK.
Using an 8ply, tension in 4×2 rib:
- 24st/10cm
- 30 rows /10cm.
| A | half of arm circumference at mid forearm |
| B | Shoulder depth |
| C | Underarm to high hip |
| D | cuff to shoulder |
| E | cuff to neck line |
| F | cuff to centre back |
| G | width of back (side seam to side seam underarm) |
| H | Width of front piece (side seam to side seam across front of hips) |
Made for a close fit so actual body measurements were used in all measurements.
When casting on for cuff number of stitches must be a multiple of 6.
Stitch Pattern: Start with k2 p2 (k4 p2) until last 2 stitches k2 for right side. Wrong side, knit or purl all stitches as they appear.
When increasing for front and back make sure final number of stitches is a multiple of 6 and stitch pattern is maintained. (Having k2 p2 on all straight edges minimises curl.)
Make 2 pieces making sure you end up with a left and right front.
Cast on 2A *2.4 stitches adjusted to be a multiple of 6.
Increase evenly to 2B *2.4 stitches over the D*3 rows required for the sleeve.
Cast on C* 2.4 stitches adjusted so that the end of the row is correct.
Knit 1 row
Cast on C* 2.4 stitches adjusted so that the end of the row is correct.
Knit until you have E cm from cuff.
Knit to just before the centre of the row. Cast off 12 stitches on the front and 6 stitches on the back.
Put front stitches on a holder and continue on back.
Knit until you have F cm from cuff.
Using a 3 needle cast off join back seam. Sew side and sleeve seams. (This enables trying it on while making the front)
Fronts
Work decreases to get a diagonal line leaving 6 stitches at the bottom.
Rate of decrease = ((C*2.4)-12 – 6)/(H*3-(E-D)*3)
Starting at bottom of front knit to last 4 stitches. Decrease 1 stitch, work last 2 stitches.
Row 2: Work 2 stitches decrease 1 stitch, continue in pattern to end of row.
Continue decreasing at top edge using / decreases when going up the garment and \ when going down.
When 6 stitches remain k2 tog 3 times.
Transfer these 3 stitches to a 4mm DPN and make an icord G cm long.
