I bought 7 balls of Cleckheaton bamboo on sale at Lincraft. This yarn is very soft and silky so I decided to make a shawl.
I went through Victorian Lace Today and decided on A handsome triangle. This pattern is in an 8ply in the book (not historically accurate obviously as even in the 1940s the thickest yarn was 4ply) but I decided it would look good in 4ply so off I went. The pattern is relatively easy with a good rhythm to it. The construction is from the top centre outward so I can just keep going until I only have enough bamboo left for the crocheted edging. I probably should practice my crochet so I can get an even tension when I get to that point.
As I need to know where I am up to all the time and every row is patterned I’m am knitting back instead of purling on this shawl.
It’s going very well, I’ve knitted up about 1.5 balls and size wise I’ve done about 25% of the size I would like it to end up so it is working out perfectly.
