Soft and light – perfect for a warmer day

This is basically a rectangle of stocking stitch with 2 armholes that were finished with a few rows of stocking stitch.

I noticed when I made the mohair sheer top that the top and bottom didn’t roll when the stocking stitch was knitted loosely, this wrap doesn’t roll on the ends either.  The sides (top and bottom of wrap) do however roll in making a nice rolled edge.

The yarn is Marta’s 4ply mohair silk blend knitted on 10mm needles.

I calculated:

  • the number of stitches from the length required at the centre back (neck to thigh)
  • the width of the front was calculated as 3/4of the width across my bust line
  • the width of the back was calculated at the bra strap level.
Short rows were added at the lower edge at the centre back to give some extra width across my hips.
I’m really happy with the result of such a simple design.
