Basic shawl design

I was asked the other day if I would sell the pattern for my shawl.  The person looked confused when I said it was just a basic garter stitch shawl with an edge on it.  So I thought I would write up my 2 basic shawl designs.

These are very basic; change the stitch, change the increase method, add some lace or cables or simply use a spectacular yarn. The first one starts at the point and finishes at the top, the second starts at the top and makes V shaped rows finishing at the hem.

Bottom up.

Cast on 3 stitches

K1 yo knit to last stitch yo k1
Repeat last 2 rows until it is the size you want
Cast off very loosely.

worked out from the back of the neck

Cast on 5
K2 yo k1 yo k2
k2 yo k1 yo k1 yo k1 yo k2
K2 yo knit to centre stitch yo k1 yo knit to last 2 stitches yo k2
repeat last 2 rows until you have your desired size
Cast off very loosely or add an edge from a book of edgings.
Finish the back of the neck by stitching the first 2 stitches to the last 2 stitches in the first row.
