I’ve been wanting to try Dairing D-82 for a while. It is a blend of 70% silk and 30% stainless steel. Yep its strong as steel, it is also as thin as sewing cotton making knitting it a little challenging.
As I mentioned a few weeks ago I am making a scarf with the D-82 and lace weight Alpaca/Silk from Mayhem & Chaos. I’m knitting it in stocking stitch and using a Fibonacci sequence to add stripes where I drop the alpaca/silk and have 2 rows of the silk/ss on its own.
The scarf is turning out to be very drapy on the 4mm needles as expected but having the D-82 in it means that it can also be pulled into shape. So it should be able to be worn long and thin taking advantage of the roll in the stocking stitch or wide with wavy edges. The stripes without the alpaca/silk can be pulled very wide and don’t pull in like the areas in between.
It will be really interesting to see how it can be worn when finished.
