This is a basic rectangle with some short rows added at the centre back to allow more room at the hips and finished with simple cap sleeves.
Tension: 9st and 12 rows to 10cm on a 10mm needle.
Yarn: Marta’s Yarns Mist Mohair . 2 balls. (50g/190m)
Step 1: Take your measurements.
Measurements required:
A 2/3 of the distance from side seam to side seam across the full bust
B Distance from side seam to side seam under the arm at the back
C Distance from neck to hem at centre back
D Distance from shoulder to base of armhole
E Distance from edge of shoulder to base of neck
F Width at hips
Pattern
Cast on D *9/10 stitches. Add markers for the armhole (E *9/10 stitches from one end, and another one D*9/10 stitches from there)
Knit in stocking stitch until piece measures A. Ending with a wrong side row
Knit to the base of the armhole.
Cast off the stitches between the markers then continue to the end of the row.
Purl to the armhole, cast on the same number of stitches that were cast off in the previous row.
Knit in stocking stitch for another B/2 cm finishing at the bottom of the garment. (Centre back)
Add short rows
Calculate the number of extra rows required at the base: (F-B) * 12/10 .
Divide the number of stitches to the armhole by the number of extra rows/4 and place markers.
eg: if there are 33 stitches to the armhole and you calculated 12 above then place a marker after 11, 22 and 33 stitches.

Purl to the armhole, cast on the same number of stitches that were cast off in the previous row.
Knit in stocking stitch until piece measures A from the last armhole.
Cast off ensuring the tension of the cast off matches the cast on. (You may need to go up a needle size to achieve this).
Armholes
Pick up and knit 1 stitch for every stitch around the armhole starting at the base of the armhole.

WHY THE THING WITH MOHAIR. WHAT CAN I USE INSTEAD OF IT. ITCH, ITCH, MARILYN
I like mohair, it is soft and can be used at a wide variety of gauges. I’m sorry it makes you itch, you could try a light acrylic or alpaca.
THANK YOU.
